Generally, a person not a citizen of Nigeria, planning to travel to Nigeria, whether for the purpose of visit, tourism, study, work or residence, must first obtain a Nigerian Visa. Categories of Entry Visas/Permits to Nigeria:
F2A – Diplomatic Visa (Non-accredited Diplomat)
  • F2A Visa is a single-entry short visit visa for non-accredited Diplomats who wish to visit Nigeria for official business.

F4A – Business (Single Entry) Visa
  • F4A Visa is a Single-Entry Business Visa issued to foreign nationals seeking to visit Nigeria for short business needs.

F4B – Business (Multiple Entry) Visa
  • F4B Visa is a Multiple-Entry Business Visa issued to foreign nationals on a RECIPROCITY basis for the purpose of regular short business visits to Nigeria.

F4C – Business (Frequently Travelled Executives) Visa
  • F4C Visa is a Business Visa for frequently travelled executives or business persons of international repute with an investment of up to USD250,000 in Nigeria.

F5A – Tourism Visa
  • F5A Visa is issued to foreign nationals seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of tourism in Nigeria.

F6A – Visiting (Single Entry) Visa
  • F6A Visa is issued to foreign nationals seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of social visit to family and friends in Nigeria. It is a single-entry visa permitted for social visit only.

F6B – Visiting (Multiple Entry) Visa
  • F6B Visa is a Multiple Entry Visiting Visa issued to foreign nationals seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of social visit to family and friends, based on RECIPROCITY.

F7A – Journalist Visa
  • F7A Visa is issued to foreign nationals seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of media and journalism. It is a single-entry visa.

F7B – Cleric Visa
  • F7B Visa is issued to religious officials seeking to visit Nigeria for the purpose of religious services like preaching, religious seminars and religious conferences. It is a single-entry visa.

F7C – Medical Tourism Visa
  • F7C Visa is Visa issued to foreign nationals seeking to visit Nigeria for the purpose of receiving medical care. It is a single-entry visa.

F7D – Religious Tourism Visa
  • F7D Visa is issued to religious faithful, adherents or followers who wish to visit Nigeria for the purpose of attending religious activities, programmes or pilgrimage. It is a single-entry visa.

F7E – Sports Visa
  • F7E Visa is a Sports Visa issued to foreign nationals seeking to visit Nigeria for the purpose of sporting activities. It is a single-entry visa.

F7F – Artist/Entertainer/Musician Visa
  • F7F Visa is issued to foreign nationals seeking to visit Nigeria for the purpose of performance as an artist(e), entertainer or musician. It is a single-entry visa.

F7G – Study Tour Visa
  • F7G Visa is issued to foreign nationals seeking to visit Nigeria for the purpose of a study tour. It is a single-entry visa.

F7H – Academic Exchange Programme (AEP) Visa
  • F7H Visa is an Academic Exchange Programme (AEP) Visa issued to foreign nationals seeking to visit Nigeria for the purpose of an academic exchange programme. It is a single-entry visa.

F7I – International Cultural Exchange Visa
  • F7I Visa is an International Cultural Exchange Visa issued to foreign nationals seeking to visit Nigeria for the purpose of cultural exchange activities. It is a single-entry visa.

F7J – Humanitarian Services Visa
  • F7J Visa is a Humanitarian Services Visa issued to foreign nationals seeking to visit Nigeria for the purpose of humanitarian services. It is a single-entry visa.

F7K – Emergency/Relief Work Visa
  • F7K Visa is an Emergency/Relief Work Visa issued to foreign nationals seeking to visit Nigeria for the purpose of emergency or relief work. It is a single-entry visa.

F7L – Staff of INGO Visa
  • F7L Visa is issued to staff of International Non-Governmental Organisations seeking to visit Nigeria for the purpose of INGO activities. It is a single-entry visa.

F7M – Staff of NGO Visa
  • F7M Visa is issued to staff of Non-Governmental Organisations seeking to visit Nigeria for the purpose of NGO activities. It is a single-entry visa.

F8A – Temporary Work Permit Visa
  • F8A Visa is a single entry visa issued to experts invited by corporate bodies for a short period of time for the purpose of providing specialized skilled services.

F9A – Returning Holders of other National Passports who are Nigerians by Birth Visa
  • F9A Visa is a class of visa issued to ‘Nigerians by Birth’ who are holders of other National Passports and wish to visit Nigeria with the other National passport for the purpose of social and business visits.
R11 – Temporary Work Permit (6 months) Visa
  • R11 Visa is a multiple-entry Temporary Work Permit Visa issued to experts seeking to take up temporary employment in Nigeria on invitation by corporate bodies for the purpose of providing specialized skilled services.

R1A: Accredited Diplomat Visa
  • The R1A Visa is a class of visa issued to Accredited Diplomats in Nigeria. The visa allows holders to perform Diplomatic activities or work in Nigeria as an Accredited Diplomat. Specific activities or work to be performed must be governmental in nature and character.

R1B: Spouse of Accredited Diplomat Visa
  • R1B Visa is a class of visa issued to spouses of accredited Diplomats in Nigeria, as accompanying spouse.

R1C: Dependant (Minor) of Accredited Diplomat Visa
  • R1C Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependants who are Minors accompanying accredited Diplomats to Nigeria.

R1D: Dependant (18 yrs & above) of Accredited Diplomat Visa
  • R1D Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are 18 years and above accompanying accredited Diplomats to Nigeria.

R1E: Dependant (Aged Parents – 65yrs & above) of Accredited Diplomat Visa
  • R1E Visa is available to dependents who are aged parents (65 year & above) accompanying accredited Diplomats to Nigeria..

R2A: Employment Visa (Expatriate)
  • R2A Visa is a class of visa issued to EXPATRIATES seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of taking up employment in Nigeria, based on expatriate quota position.

R2B: Spouse of Expatriate Visa
  • R2B Visa is a class of visa issued to spouses accompanying employed expatriates placed on quota in Nigeria.

R2C: Dependant (Minor) of Expatriate Visa
  • R2C Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are Minors accompanying employed expatriates on quota.

R2D: Dependant (18 yrs & above) of Expatriate Visa
  • R2D Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are 18 years and above accompanying employed expatriates on quota.

R2E: Dependant (Aged Parents – 65yrs & above) of Accredited Diplomat Visa
  • R2E Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are aged parents (65 years and above) accompanying employed expatriates on a quota.

R3A: Employment Visa – Expatriate (Free Zone)
  • R3A Visa is a class of visa issued to EXPATRIATES seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of taking up employment within FREE ZONES in Nigeria.

R3B: Spouse of Expatriate – Free Zone Visa
  • R3B Visa is a class of visa issued to spouses accompanying employed expatriates working within Free Zones in Nigeria.

R3C: Dependant of Expatriate -Free Zone (Minor) Visa
  • R3C Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are Minors accompanying expatriates employed to work within Free Zones in Nigeria.

R3D: Dependant of Expatriate-Free Zone (18 years and above) Visa
  • R3D Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are 18 years and above accompanying expatriates employed to work within the Free Zones in Nigeria.

R3E: Dependant of Expatriate-Free Zone (Aged Parents 65yrs and above) Visa
  • R3E Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are aged parents (65 years and above) accompanying expatriates employed to work within Free Zones in Nigeria.

R4A: Employment Visa – Expatriate (Free Zone)
  • R4A Visa is a class of visa issued to EXPATRIATES seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of taking up employment with the Federal, State or Local Government in Nigeria as Government Officials.

R4B: Spouse of Employed Expatriate (Government Official) Visa
  • R4B Visa is a class of visa issued to a spouse of an expatriate accompanying an expatriate employed as a GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL in Nigeria.

R4C: Dependant (Minor) of Employed Expatriate (Government Official) Visa
  • R4C Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are Minors accompanying expatriates employed as Government Officials in Nigeria.

R4D: Dependant (18 Years and above) of Employed Expatriate (GO) Visa
  • R4D Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are 18 years and above accompanying expatriates employed as Government Officials in Nigeria.

R4E: Dependant (Aged Parents – 65 years and above) of Employed Expatriate (GO) Visa
  • R4E Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are aged parents (65 years and above) accompanying expatriates employed by Governments as Government Officials in Nigeria.

R5A: Employment Visa – INGO
  • R5A Visa is a class of visa issued to persons seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of taking up employment with International Non-Governmental Organisations operating in Nigeria.

R5B: Employment Visa – Spouse of INGO Staff
  • R5B Visa is a class of visa issued to spouses accompanying INGO staff working in Nigeria.

R5C: Employment Visa – Dependant (Minor) of INGO Staff
  • R5C Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are Minors accompanying INGO staff working in Nigeria.

R5D: Employment Visa – Dependant (18 years and above) of INGO Staff
  • R5D Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are 18 years and above accompanying INGO Staff working in Nigeria.

R5E: Employment Visa – Dependant (aged parents, 65 years and above) of INGO Staff
  • R5E Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are aged parents (65 years and above) accompanying INGO Staff working in Nigeria.

R6A: Employment Visa – Cleric
  • R6A Visa is a class of visa issued to persons seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of taking up employment as a Cleric.

R6B: Employment Visa – Spouse of Cleric
  • R6B Visa is a class of visa issued to spouses accompanying clerics performing clergy services in Nigeria.

R6C: Employment Visa – Dependant of Cleric (Minor)
  • R6C Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are Minors accompanying clerics performing clergy services in Nigeria.

R6D: Employment Visa – Dependent of Cleric (18 years and above)
  • R6D Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are 18 years and above accompanying clerics performing clergy services in Nigeria.

R6E: Employment Visa – Dependent of Cleric (Aged Parents 65 years and above)
  • R6E Visa is a class of visa issued to Dependents who are aged parents (65 years and above) accompanying clerics performing clergy services in Nigeria.

R7A: Student Visa
  • R7A Visa is a class of visa issued to foreign students seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of studying.

R7B: Spouse of Student Visa
  • R7B Visa is a class of visa issued to spouses accompanying foreign students studying in Nigeria.

R8A: Academic Exchange Programme (AEP) Visa
  • R8A Visa is a class of visa issued to foreign nationals seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of the Academic Exchange Programme.

R8B: Spouse of Academic Exchange Programme (AEP) Visa
  • R8B Visa is a class of visa issued to spouses accompanying AEP participants in Nigeria where applicable.

R9A: Interns Visa
  • R9A Visa is a class of visa issued to foreign nationals seeking to enter Nigeria for the purpose of an internship programme.
N1A – Spouse of Nigerian Citizen Visa
  • N1A Visa is a Permanent Residence Visa issued to spouses of Nigerian Citizens in compliance with the provisions of Section 37 (10) of Immigration Act 2015.

N2A – Nigerian by Birth who Renounced Nigerian Citizenship Visa
  • N2A Visa is a Permanent Residence Visa issued to Nigerians by birth who renounced Nigerian citizenship. The objective is to fulfil the provision of Section 37 (12) of Immigration Act 2015 and foster family links.

N2B – Nigerian by Birth who Renounced Nigerian Citizenship Visa
  • N2B Visa is a Permanent Residence Visa issued to spouses of Nigerians by birth who renounced Nigerian citizenship.

N3A: Investor Visa (Small Scale Enterprise)
  • N3A Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to potential small enterprise investors who wish to invest in Nigeria.

N3B: Investor Visa (Medium Scale Enterprise)
  • N3B Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to potential medium enterprise investors who wish to invest in Nigeria.

N3C: Investor Visa (Large Scale Corporations)
  • N3C Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to potential large-scale corporation investors who wish to invest in Nigeria.

N3D: Investor Visa (Ultra Large-Scale Corporations)
  • N3D Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to potential ultra large-scale corporation investors who wish to invest in Nigeria.

N3E: Investor Visa (Oil, Gas & Power Sector)
  • N3E Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to potential Oil, Gas & Power Sector investors who wish to invest in Nigeria.

N4A – Highly Skilled Immigrant Visa
  • N4A Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to foreign nationals who possess knowledge, abilities and technical skills to be classified as highly skilled in the areas considered relevant to the current and future needs of the Nigerian economy.

N5A: Retirement Visa (Retired in Nigeria)
  • N5A Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to foreign national retirees who wish to reside in Nigeria after 20 years of service in Nigeria and aged 65 years and above.

N5B: Retirement Visa (Retiree from abroad)
  • N5B Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to foreign national retirees (65 years and above) who retired abroad and wish to reside in Nigeria.

N6A: Spouse of Permanent Resident Visa
  • N6A Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to spouses accompanying Permanent Residence Visa holders (Investors, Highly Skilled Immigrant and Retiree) to reside in Nigeria.

N6B: Dependant (less than 18 years) of Permanent Resident Visa
  • N6B Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to dependents (less than 18 years) of Permanent Residence Visa holders (Investors, Highly Skilled Immigrants and Retirees) who wish to reside in Nigeria.

N6C: Dependant (18 years and above) of Permanent Resident Visa
  • N6C Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to dependents (18 years and above) of Permanent Residence Visa holders (Investors, Highly Skilled Immigrants and Retirees) who wish to reside in Nigeria.

N6D: Dependant (Aged Parents, 65 years and above) of Permanent Resident Visa
  • N6D Visa is a class of Permanent Residence Visa issued to dependents (Aged Parents, 65 years and above) of Permanent Residence Visa holders (Investors, Highly Skilled Immigrants and Retirees) who wish to reside in Nigeria.
Requirements for Entry Visas/Permits to Nigeria:
  1. Completed entry visa application forms and payment.
  2. Company letter introducing applicant from country of origin.
  3. Invitation letter from the company in Nigeria (on letter head)
  4. Copy of yellow fever certificate.
  5. Copy of passport bio/ datapage of applicant.
  6. Two passport size photographs.
  7. Media Accreditation Letter (Media/Journalist)
  8. Copy of Certificate of Incorporation (Nigeria)/Cooperation Agreement
  9. Copy of passport datapage of signatories (host) in Nigeria
  10. Copy of Return Air ticket
  11. Valid passport with 6 months validity and blank pages
  12. Provide a copy of valid work or residence permit’s approval from origin country immigration as well as endorsed on the passport
  • Single entry valid for 3 months.
  • Multiple entry valid for 6-12 months.

NB Multiple Entry is not a Guarantee and at least the Applicant should have been to Nigeria before.

  1. Completed Entry visa application forms and payment.
  2. Two passport size photographs.
  3. Valid passport with 6 months validity and 2 blank pages.
  4. Copy of re-entry page for non-residents.
  5. Copy of passport datapage of applicant.
  6. Visitors/Tourists are required to show Personal Bank Statement (2-3 months)
  7. Copy of yellow fever certificate.
  8. Booking of Return Air Ticket.
  9. Inviation letter from host and a copy of his/her data page of signatories (host) in Nigeria. Addressed to the Nigeria High Commission
  10. Provide a copy of valid work or residence permit’s approval from Kenyan immigration as well as endorsed on the passport
  • – Single entry valid for 3 months.

No Multiple Entry Visa issued under its category.

  1. Completed Entry Visa application forms and payment.
  2. Invitation letter addressed to the Nigeria High Commission
  3. Admission letter (for students) from Nigeria.
  4. Employer Contract / Offer Letter.
  5. Acceptance letter.
  6. Copy of CV and Certificates.
  7. Certificate of Good Conduct.(For non-diplomat)
  8. Certificate of incorporation for the company in Nigeria/Co-operation Agreement
  9. Expatriate Quota approval from Ministry of Interior/Letter from Ministry of Budget & Planning/USAID
  10. Four (4) passport size photographs.
  11. Air ticket
  12. Copy of yellow fever certificate.
  13. Four copies of all documents above.
  14. Copy of a passport datapage of the applicant

  16. Other nationals except Kenyans, must have valid work or residence permit’s approval from origin country immigration as well as endorsed on the passport

  8. Media Accreditation Letter (Media/Journalist)
