Categories of Entry Visas/Permits to Ghana:
Tourist e-visa
  • Issued to individuals who intend to visit Ghana for leisure, social or tourism-related purposes. This visa enables travelers to explore the country’s diverse landscapes, cultural heritage, and vibrant lifestyle.

Business e-visa
  • This visa enables travelers to engage in various business activities, including attending conferences, conducting business meetings or negotiations, investing, or managing new or existing businesses.

Volunteer Visa
  • The visa allows foreign nationals to participate in various types of voluntary work, such as teaching, healthcare, environmental conservation, community development, and other social programs. This visa is only applicable to non-profit and non-governmental organizations registered in Ghana.

Employment Visa
  • Issued for a period of one to three years, depending on the length of the employment contract. Holders of this visa are permitted to engage in lawful employment within the terms of their contract, and they may also apply for a work permit to extend their stay in Ghana.

Study Visas
  • This visa is granted to individuals who have secured admission into a college or university in Ghana and intend to pursue academic programs such as undergraduate or postgraduate studies.

Journalist Visa
  • Issued to media personnel who wish to travel to Ghana for journalism or press-related activities. To obtain this visa, applicants must first apply for press accreditation, which is a process that verifies their status as journalists and ensures that they are authorized to engage in journalistic activities in Ghana.

Emergency Entry Visa
  • This visa is issued in situations where Ghana does not have a mission or consulate in the applicant’s country of origin, or where the individual needs to enter Ghana for an emergency assignment.
Requirements for Entry Visas/Permits to Ghana:

The visas and permits have different requirements regarding forms and documents. There are some general requirements, but there are also visa-specific forms. If you’re planning a trip to Ghana, it’s essential to understand the country’s visa requirements.

  1. Passport: Your passport must be machine readable and also must. be valid for the next six months and have at least one blank visa page.
  2. Photographs: You must provide one color, passport-type photograph taken within the last three months and printed on high-quality photo paper
  3. Proof of Travel Arrangements: You must provide proof of travel arrangements for the duration of your trip. Include a copy of an itinerary or e-ticket that displays your round trip travel and entry and exit dates for your destination
  4. Vaccination Certificate: You must provide a copy of your Yellow Fever vaccination certificate.
  5. Hotel Confirmation: You must provide a confirmation of your hotel accommodations.
  6. Acceptance/Admission Letter :Provide an acceptance or admission letter from the university, college, or educational institution in Ghana where you will be studying.
  7. Criminal Record: You need to obtain a criminal record check from the Ministry of Interior. This record will verify that you have no prior criminal convictions or offenses.
  8. Letter of Recommendation or Guarantee: A letter from an employer, sponsor, or business associate in the applicant’s home country is required.
  9. Two References : Provide the name, contact information, and address of two business associates and their companies in Ghana as your references.

  6. Documents Required for Minors & Parental Consent: Applicants twenty and younger traveling without parents must submit a notarized parental authorization form from both parents.
  7. Hotel Confirmation: You must provide a confirmation of your hotel accommodations. Your confirmation must, include your intended dates of stay and display your full name.
  8. Reference: You must provide a valid hotel/accommodation booking or reservation with the full address, including the name, street, city, zip code, and contact information. The booking reference must be included.
  9. Flight Ticket Reservation: You must provide a copy of your roundtrip flight ticket reservation.
  10. Invitation Letter (if any): If you have been invited by a resident in Ghana, you must provide an invitation letter detailing the purpose of your trip and the dates of your stay.
  11. Proof of Financial Means: You must provide proof of your financial means, such as payslips, bank statements, cash, traveler’s cheques, or vouchers.
  12. For Minors: If you are a minor, you must provide a copy of your birth certificate, proof of adoption, or custody decree if your parents are divorced, as well as a letter of consent from your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) if you are traveling unaccompanied.

  2. Copy of housing lease or confirmation of residence lodging within a university
  3. Proof of financial assets or evidence of a scholarship indicating the amount and duration of the scholarship
  4. Health Insurance Certificate covering the period while in Cote d’Ivoire
